Lisa's Awards

Lisa Galvan, founder and former owner of Luna de Noche Restaurants in Dallas, has opened Agave Tex-Mex Grill in Flower Mound.

Known as one of the most successful restaurateurs in Dallas, few people realize that years ago Lisa was a single mother working in an accounting department. She went to work in her spare time waiting tables for tips at a local restaurant to earn extra moneey. From there she went on to start her own restaurant, which became the first of many.

Over the years Lisa has received numerous awards. Her recipe for tortilla soup was voted the best in the Metroplex by D Magazine. Her salsa was rated in the 2004 Texas Tornadoes Salsa Shootout as the Best Mild Salsa in the Metroplex. She was named outstanding restaurateur by the TRA Dallas Restaurant Association Chapter in 2007 and awarded Business Person of the Year by LULAC in Collin County.

A PASSION FOR THE BUSINESS MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

“I am passionate about perfection so attention to detail has attributed to my success in this business,” Lisa said. “I make sure the food is always fresh and that each entrée is made from the best ingredients.” As for her newest venture Lisa said, “My brother, Ed Galvan, who owns Casa Milagro in Richardson, called me about the location available in Flower Mound. He assured me it was perfect for me and urged me to take a look at it."

Lisa’s attention to detail is obvious in the décor at Agave Tex-Mex Grill. Dramatic, yet understated, it is definitely upscale without being intimidating. “This is a family-friendly restaurant,” Lisa said. “Our focus is to serve excellent cuisine that is fairly priced in a beautiful environment.” Juan Carlos, Lisa’s husband, continues to be her greatest fan and supporter. “He’s always there for me,” Lisa said. “I could not do it all without him.”

AN EXCITING MENU EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK

The menu at Agave Tex-Mex Grill reflects Lisa’s long history of serving up Tex-Mex cuisine. There’s the typical Tex-Mex fare along with gourmet items that are unusual and delicious. All of the recipes were originally tested in Lisa’s kitchen. “I prepackage all of my spices,” Lisa said. “Even the people who work in the kitchen don’t know the combination of the ingredients.”

Favorites include the Camarones Agave: butterfly jumbo shrimp stuffed with pecans, wrapped in bacon, topped with a touch of Agave’s spicy cheese sauce. And Agave Tacos, crispy seasoned orange roughy served in a corn tortilla. Other stellar selections include Beef Short Ribs, Jalapeno Meatloaf, Chili Relino, and Portabello Mushrooms grilled and topped with shredded beef, sautéed onions and topped with melted Jack cheese.

Lisa’s award-winning tortilla soup is prepared at your table so the tortillas strips stay crispy. The steaming chicken broth base is served with tomatoes, onion, green pepper tortilla strips, cheese and avocado. Other soups include the bean soup and avocado soup. Another great item is the Agave Supreme – a combination of Nachos, grilled Chicken Quesadillas, crispy bacon-wrapped Chicken Strips, Jalapeno Poppers and Mini Tacos. Unless you specify otherwise, Agave Tex-Mex’s beef tacos are made from slowly roasted shredded beef. The menu features a full range of appetizers and Tex-Mex combination plates, along with a children’s menu.

Do you have a sweet tooth? If so, this is the place for you. Desserts include Fruit Flauta, Flan, Cinnamon Ice cream, Sopapillas and Lava Turtle Cake.
